I have been asked to design a website for the Manchester United Supporters Club Malaysia in 2009, but after not getting any response, the project was scrapped and buried. Fast forward to 2011, and they again contacted and wanted to have their very own website. I duly obliged, albeit doing it for free, since I would love to run a Manchester United news site along the way and would want to try out some online marketing strategies to see if I could generate traffic & earn some money to run the blog at the same time.

I then decided to do some major facelift from the old design (see here) by improving the overall UI of the site as well as how the wordpress theme was developed. A lot of improvements have been made, especially the news slider and social media integration. To spice up the drop down menus, I have decided to support the links with an icon, so that people would instantly recognize what the link is all about. These are a few stuff that I have added to improve the overall experience of the site.

Hikmat and I are also trying to develop a advertising management system, which would be implemented into the wordpress admin, so that we could monitor the ads not only for this site, but for other sites that we would develop in the future as well. Since the website will mostly be regarded as a news/blog with information of MUSC Malaysia’s history & ongoing events, content is king. For a start, I might just paraphrase from other football news sites such as Soccernet.com & Goal.com, but once I get the groove on, I will probably be writing some editorial stuff such as Match Previews, Team Selections etc.
Overall I am pretty happy with the design, and I hope that I could keep the blog running for as long as I can. The major issue would be the images, since this site will be operating without any funding, images would probably be taken from other sites, but credits will be given to those sites/photographer (it is the only thing I could offer at this moment). I would definitely hope that the site could sustain itself in the near future so that I could those images to use on this site legally.
If there are any of you who would like to contribute by writing a few articles a week, please feel free to email/contact me! I would definitely appreciate the help in making this site as entertaining & informative as possible. And if there are any comments/feedback on how to improve the site, just drop me a comment below.
